Rare scenery, that more than 3,000 seating’s were filled up with the TVXQ fans at the Seoul world sect, "Sejong Cultural Center" where a performance of the musical "Mozart" was opened on the 26th. The place was filled with the TVXQ fans to watch the TVXQ member Kim Junsu (stage name Xiah Junsu) who played the leading role of the musical Mozart on this day.

Even a ticket tout appeared to sell the ticket to women fans of around the age of 20 years old. This is the first musical appearance for Mr. Kim. (*T/N: Korean news editor wrote Mr. Kim here, which is culturally appropriate sir name for the musical or opera performer.) 15 times of his performances (more than 45,000 seats) that Mr. Kim appears are sold out at the end of last year after an interval of ticket advance sale only in three hours. And the first stage performance was predicted to appear to be the concert place of TVXQ.

The fans hurried up to take the first hand photos of Mr. Kim at the Sejon Cultural Center lobby on this day,
and also every time Mr. Kim finished singing during his musical performance, the fans gave him great cheers.
The fans even raised their voice yelling “AH!” when the scene where Mr. Kim kissed with the co-star, 콘스탄체.

EMK musical production company appointed 35 male guards for an advance sale confirmation and the ticket confirmation for this performance.

EMK set the entrance area restrictions into consideration to secure the security of Mr. Kim and the audiences.
They will take the same step for a performance on the 28th and they will make it public in the near future
to clarify their security majors for the future performances.

Mr. Kim is also appearing in Mozart at Taegu performance, (from February 26 to March 7) for five times,
and the server was downed at the time of the ticket sell on the 13th for the massive interest of the fans to purchase the advance sale ticket.

Special Movie on KNTV

This broadcast concentrates on the drama “Heading to the Ground,” where TVXQ’s Yunho (U-Know) took his first leading role as Jung Yunho. It will start on Sunday the 24th under the Japanese title “No Limit” and comes, of course, with unabbreviated subtitles. It will be aired at 9:45 PM on KNTV. On the website of the TV program, three trailers and a special section containing eight questions and answers are published.

“Heading to the Ground” tells the story of a nameless soccer player who succeeds in becoming a member of an established soccer team. Many fans are anticipating this Japanese broadcast, where Jung Yunho, member of the group TVXQ (who is very popular in Asia), is starring in. It has already been garnering huge attention even before the start. The slightly changed title of “Heading to the Ground” has a special meaning. Let’s try to think about what meaning it has! The answer is, because there is a special corner of the drama called “Navicon.”

Cha Bong Gun, who is portrayed by Yunho, is a young man who has been struggling since his childhood to continue playing soccer, and has become a member of a nameless soccer team. Keeping his outstanding talent a secret through positioning and powerful kicks, is the problem of the character. Becoming too explosive or hot-headed in many things always causes problems. On top of that, getting kicked out of his team leaves Bong Gun in a desperate situation. Here appears the soccer agent, Hae Bin. Hiding that she is the daughter of the owner of a professional baseball team, she has the strong intention to grow as a soccer agent. During the corporate team’s match, she is captivated by the volley shoot of an unknown player (Bong Gun). How will the romance between the self-confident Cha Bong Gun and Kang Hae Bin develop?

This time, the one who will be playing Yunho’s love interest is Ara, an actress who won the grand prize during an audition by SM in 2003. In 2006, she has also been chosen as the “Cinderella Girl” out of 40,000 participants during an actress audition by Kadokawa Haruki and Avex.

'Earned Sales Of 4 Billion Won'

TVXQ's Xiah Junsu has increased sales by approximately 4 billion Won ($3.5 million).
 
Xiah Junsu will take on the lead role of Mozart in the musical 'Mozart!'. 'Mozart!' opened at the Seoul Sejong Cultural Center on the 20th.

Many in the domestic musical industry are saying that "'Mozart!' already had the money needed to cover the productions costs even before it had its first show." The total production costs for 'Mozart!' is around 4 billion Won. There is no other way to explain this situation other than the 'Xiah Junsu phenomenon'.

Calculating the Ticket Sales
There are 4 people who will play the role of Mozart and they are Xiah Junsu, Park Gun Hyung, Lim Tae Gyung and Park Eun Tae. They will be rotating every day for the performance. As soon as ticket reservations were open to the public, the number of tickets left on the nights that Xiah Junsu was scheduled to perform quickly depleted till they all reached '0'.

The Sejong Cultural Center's theater has 3000 seats. 452 VIP seats, 890 R seats, 538 S seats, 482 A seats, 362 B seats, and 256 C seats. The price for the tickets range from 20,000 Won ($18) to 120,000 Won ($106) on weekdays.

In the case that a show is performed on a weekday, one performance brings in 234.8 million Won ($ 206,000). On weekends, each performance brings in 264.6 million Won ($233,000). As Xiah Junsu is scheduled to perform in 8 weekday shows and 7 weekend shows, he is bringing in sales of 3,730,600,000 Won ($3.28 million).

There are also the provincial performances to consider. There will be shows in Daegu and Suwon and currently, Xiah Junsu is confirmed to perform in Daegu. There are 1954 seats in the Daegu Gaemyung Art Center. Xiah Junsu will perform in five weekend shows in Daegu. If the amount earned each night in Seoul is multiplied by two-thirds to find the revenue in Daegu, Xiah Junsu would still have earned 'Mozart!' 850 million Won ($747,000) in ticket sales.

If both these amounts are added, it totals in at 4,580,600,000 Won ($4.03 million). If Xiah Junsu decides to perform in more provincial shows, this number will rise. EMK Musical Company, that is in charge of 'Mozart!', seems to be expecting sales of side products such OST CDs and pamphlets to rise rapidly as well.

It was found that TVXQ's U-Know Yunho donated to the earthquake victims of Haiti while trying not to draw attention to himself.

On the 20th, 'MBC Newsdesk' revealed the names of those who participated in the donations to help the Haiti earthquake victims.

[NEWS] Junsu Receives Emergency Treatment

100120 Xiah Junsu Received Emergency Treatment For A Viral Infection

It was found that Xiah Junsu was once hospitalized for a viral infection.

Xiah Junsu was said to have received emergency treatment at a hospital in Gangnam after feeling unwell on the morning of the 18th. Xiah Junsu had been suffering from pain and vertigo from the day before but visited the hospital the next day when the pain became unbearable.

A representative of Xiah Junsu stated, "As he was not feeling well, we were going to go to an emergency room at a big hospital, but we thought there might be too many people there so he was hospitalized at a close hospital. We were told by the doctors that he had contracted a viral infection from an accumulation of fatigue."

Xiah Junsu rested that day as he received a blood test and was put on an IV. It was found that he had gotten the viral infection from fatigue and not a disease. After hearing from an early diagnosis that he did not contract any big diseases, Xiah Junsu decided to leave the hospital that night on the 18th.

The representative also said, "The hospital urged him to be hospitalized for at least a week and receive treatment as well as rest. As the diagnosis was one in the early stages, a thorough examination is needed. However, if Xiah Junsu was hospitalized for a week, it would cause problems with rehearsals for his musical that starts at the end of this month, so he decided that he had to leave the hospital."

After staying at home to rest, Xiah Junsu went back to his musical rehearsals on the 19th. As his body had not fully recovered, he decided to continue on with rehearsals while taking medication for his body. As his first performance is scheduled to be on the 26th, there isn't much time left for him to rehearse.

Xiah Junsu will be playing the role of genius musician Wolfgang Mozart in the musical . Xiah Junsu is said to have said, "This is my first try at acting. I heard that the fans have high expectations. Although my health is not at its best, I want to give them the best performance that I can."

The World Expo in Shanghai, Korea pavilion will "attract six million people come to visit by high level performances ".

Korea Pavilion was built in the light of the theme "Better city, Better life" of this World Expo in Shanghai. It will exhibit a future city combining culture and art. The pavilion was consisted by "Korea words' root", and it includes 3 floors.

5-member groups TVXQ and Big Bang were each awarded as "Cultural Ambassadors". The International Culture Industry Exchange Foundation (KOFICE), under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, expressed that they decided to award TVXQ and Big Bang as "Cultural Ambassadors", to recognize their contributions in developing culture through popular music.

The main reasons for awarding them is because despite the slump in the music industry, they still managed to set records for releasing the most number of albums, as well as continuously carried out local and overseas activities.

An official from KOFICE expressed, "This is awarded annually to those who make the most contributions towards the development of culture. Before this, this award was usually given to those who work in the cultural industry, but this year there was an exception as it was awarded to idol groups."

He also stated, "As TVXQ and Big Bang's year-end schedules were very busy, the ceremony will be implemented in January."

100115 Japan Melts At TVXQ's Musicality-Humanity

It was reported that Oricon compiled the album sales for each singer from over 20,000 stores and online sites and found that last year (2008.12.29~2009.12.27), TVXQ earned 6.8 billion Yen (83.3 billion Won). It was a swift leap from their sales in 2008. However, these numbers did not include what TVXQ earned from concerts and TV show appearances, so it can be estimated that TVXQ earned a total of 100 billion Won in Japan alone.

TVXQ also has the biggest fanclub in agency AVEX with around 180,000 Japanese people registered.

The majority of TVXQ's Japanese fandom is not made of middle aged women or grandmothers like the fandoms of Bae Yong Joon and other Hallyu stars. Instead, their fandom is comprised of a large fanbase with people in their 20s and 30s as well as those in their 40s and 50s. It can be seen that a stepping stone for TVXQ's ability to capture the hearts of the Japanese better than Hallyu stars was 'Kouhaku Uta Gassen', a performance hosted by NHK that boasts a viewing rate of over 40% annually. Last year, they participated in the event on New Year's Eve for the 2nd time and received the biggest applause out of all of the participants.

Kimiya Mariko, wife of Professor Kimiya Dadashi of Tokyo University who specializes in Japan-Korea relations, stated in a phone conversation with Hangyureh that, "I was first introduced to TVXQ and their music by my daughter three years ago. I saw them for the first time on Kouhaku Uta Gassen two years ago and fell for them." She believes that TVXQ's charm lies in the fact that, 'unlike Japanese idol groups who focus on the visual aspect and dance, TVXQ shows us their hard work to improve their music and their humanity.' She sees their good manners as a bonus. She also thinks of them as her children. "If my 9th grade daughter had liked any other group, I would have stopped her. But since she likes TVXQ, I say 'Just work hard as much as they do.'"

She has all of TVXQ's music software including CDs and concert DVDs released in both Korea and Japan. Not only that, she visited Korea last June to watch TVXQ perform. She said, "TVXQ was able to rank third in Album Sales abroad because of their persistence and hard work, it proves that their musicality and humanity are digging their way into the hearts of the Japanese population," as though the feat was her own personal victory.

The fact that TVXQ's activities not only spread their music, but also shaped them as the spreaders of the Hallyu Wave, and as ambassadors of Korea, cannot be ignored. Kimiya said, "I learned about Korean singers through TVXQ and now I enjoy songs by Shin Seung Hoon, Big Bang, and Girls' Generation as well." She also said, "I know a lot of people who started studying Korean because they liked TVXQ." She added, "TVXQ is not only Korea's treasure, but Asia's treasure as well."

However, Korean and Japanese fans are unable to hide their sadness as the dispute between three members of TVXQ and SM Entertainment over their exclusive contract continues. Kimiya said, "When I saw TVXQ in Kouhaku Uta Gassen, they looked as though they had no energy in them; it was completely different from what they were usually like." Last November, Kimiya sent an e-mail to reporters criticizing the actions of the agency and asking for the Korean media to focus more on the issue.

"Although this problem is quite important for society as it deals with old work ethics of the entertainment business and the basic worker's rights, I feel as though many see it only as fuss kicked up by an idol group or a problem only dealing with fans and the younger generation.

The agency is not taking on the responsibility it needs to take on with so many Asia fans. We are being neglected."

“The desire to continue singing”, “Believing in eternity”, ‘Break Out!’ engraved their determination.

‘Break Out!’ is the new single from Tohoshinki, who we had not been able to see for a long time. They had chosen to release this song to not disappoint us, this up-beat and full of passion song will definitely attract your attention.

The lyric is the composer's personal understanding of the interpretation of their current situation and it seems to deliver the message to us with their determination through the english part of the song. “The desire to continue singing”, “Believing in eternity”, this is what I believe in.

The second song, ‘Xiahtic’, revealed a cool and intense dance song, JunSu, who is skilled in ballad songs, revealed his powerful dance and charismatic vocal.
